Creating the quantum future
QuTech is one of Europe’s leading quantum technology research institutes at the forefront of developing transformative quantum technologies. Established in 2015 as a collaboration between Delft University of Technology and TNO, QuTech’s mission is to develop scalable prototypes of a quantum computer and a quantum internet by integrating world-class research and groundbreaking innovation.
At QuTech they focus on developing the full stack of quantum applications, including new or improved qubit technologies. Their research and engineering activities are organised along three mission-driven divisions:
Playing with quantum technology
To make quantum technology accessible to a wider audience and future users, QuTech have developed quantum computer and quantum internet demonstrators. Giving potential users the ability to ‘play’ with the technology will help to educate users, test the interoperability of the components, develop new applications, products and services, and to generate the required market pull for commercialization.
Quantum Inspire: Europe’s first publicly accessible quantum computing platform.
Quantum Network Explorer: Serves as a first step toward realizing a global quantum internet.
QuTech’s mission-driven approach creates the transition from scientific discovery to real-world application
QuTech is commited to connecting the quantum research community with industry partners, startups, and investors. By linking research to real-world applications, they help innovations reach the market and make a tangible impact.
Over the years, QuTech has developed strong partnerships with global industry leaders like Fujitsu, Intel and Microsoft. They also lead several major alliances on a national and international scale, including the Quantum Internet Alliance and IGNITE.
As coordinator of multiple collaborative research projects, QuTech encourages knowledge exchange and supports the growth of quantum companies. This approach has helped launch several successful spin-offs, including Qblox, Orange Quantum Systems, QuantWare and Q*Bird. As an integral part of the Quantum Delft ecosystem, QuTech brings together academia, industry, and government to drive innovation and collaboration in the quantum field.
